MATES FC Sunday Team
Playing in the Chelmsford Sunday League, this team is a set, signed up squad.
This team fly’s the flag for MATES and MATES FC and promotes positive mental health to the wider football audience, encouraging people to speak up and to support each other.
Having the name MATES FC out there and having the MATES logo on the kit helps spread awareness of what MATES is all about.
Taking the same brand, ethos and ethics of the MATES mission statement, MATES FC Sunday has been created to provide an opportunity for our more advanced players to join in a competitive football team.
Unlike MATES FC Saturday, commitment is key as we are looking build a fresh new club from its foundations. We want to build a home for our players and become a regular name throughout the Chelmsford Sunday league for the foreseeable future and proudly raise awareness of MATES and helping our community.
We want to lead by example and break the mold by being a club that supports each other, encourages each other, realizes the other team are not the enemy or bad people and to show them respect and not damage an individuals mental health.
We want people to feel energised and happy after being out on that pitch!

2021/22 Season
The MATES FC Sunday team was formed in 2021, with our first competitive football being played in the 2021/22 season of the Chelmsford Sunday League Division 5... and what a debut season it was!
A massive thank you to Baddow Spartak FC for allowing us to use their pitches as our home ground for our opening Sunday League season.

2022/23 Season
After an unimaginable first season, the MATES FC Sunday team were rewarded with a double promotion from Division 5 of the Chelmsford Sunday League, up into Division 3!
The following season proved to be a rather tricky one as the boys tried to find their feet amongst new opposition, but ultimately pulled together and continued to battle, securing safety come the end of May 2023.
